PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

FIELD ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE

Mr. Bumby’s geotechnical exploration experience and testing includes oversight of mechanical borings with a drill rig, SPT sampling, shelby tube sampling, test pits with an excavator, and hand auger borings with dynamic core penetrometer.  Mr. Bumby has performed density testing of soil and stone base by various methods including drive tube and sand cone, and nuclear gauge.  He also has experience with footing inspection by dynamic cone penetrometer (DCP), confirmation of structural steel reinforcement, proof rolling sub grade, and monitoring and testing of fill placement.  He has tested and inspected construction of gravity and mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls to verify proper geogrid lengths and overlaps, proper placement of wall facing, density control of soil and aggregate and proper placement of drainage features.  He has tested and inspected reinforced soil slope (RSS).  He has tested concrete for slump, temperature, unit weight, and yield.  He has also tested concrete for air content by pressure meter and rollometer methods.  He has molded concrete cylinders, grout prisms, and mortar cubes for compressive strength.  In addition, Mr. Bumby is experienced in obtaining core samples of hardened concrete.

LAB TESTING OF SOILS & CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS

Mr. Bumby has performed standard and modified proctor compaction tests on soil and crushed stone materials.  He has tested CMU block mortar cubes, grout prisms, and concrete cylinders for compressive strength.  He has also performed atterberg limits, unit weight of aggregate, and grain size analysis.
